CEIU was shocked and saddened to learn of the news of a shooting incident in Portapique, Nova Scotia and in its surroundings on April 18th, which you have certainly heard about in the news. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the loved ones of those who lost their life in these dramatic events.
Although any such incident of senseless violence would be a tragedy, we are aware that the scale of this event is unprecedented and may leave some of you feeling distressed. Especially during a time of pandemic when we are isolated from our loved ones and from other supports, we recognize this incident may take an added toll on mental health. We encourage you to seek mental health services if you need to talk to someone.
We hope that all our members and their loved ones are safe, and our thoughts are with all of you in the wake of this horrible news.
