International Human Rights Day is marked each year on December 10, the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This year, we celebrate the 75^th anniversary of this international landmark document, which sets out the fundamental human rights to be universally protected, and that all people are equal, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Your CEIU National Human Rights and Race Relations (HR/RR) Committee. The HR/RR is comprised of Indigenous members, members with disabilities, racialized members, and 2LGBTQIA+ members.

From December 5^th to 7^th, your CEIU National HR/RR held its first in-person meeting since our triennial convention in September. At the meeting, we discussed safer/braver spaces, collective self-care, mental health, and intersectionality. We also initiated the development of our strategic plan for the upcoming three years, prioritizing a member-centered approach to communication, policies, education, health and safety, bargaining, and political action.
